The swine flu truth is out there, somewhere, regarding its sudden arrival on the world scene, earlier this year. After the initial outbreak a few months ago, everyone is now bracing themselves for much, much worse this winter.

It is no great surprise to learn that health officials expect this pandemic to get worse before it gets better, especially when you consider that some manufacturers are now distributing and selling, " Swine Flu Wipes"! I can't imagine anyone wishing to contract the virus badly enough to actually wipe it on. There are store shelves full of them too! Whatever next, we may ask.

Well I think I might have identified at least one of the causes for influenza fear and frenzy around the world. Whilst humming along to the latest radio beats in the waiting room of the local health centre recently, my Sherlock Holmes instinct kicked in and my Spidey sense tingled furiously. "Something isn't right here", I thought to myself. "What is it, what is it?" I urged myself along. There were no Baskerville Hounds and no Green Goblin but something definitely was amiss.

Then it struck me, like a bolt from the blue! I noticed the table in front of me, was very white and very, very empty. I glanced up at a giant sign that had been placed nearby and it read something like this, "We apologise for any inconvenience but due to the threat of swine flu we have had to remove all magazines and reading materials."

That was it! Clarity descended and explained the mysteries of my agitation in the waiting room. It wasn't the fear of being told by the doctor that I have a life threatening illness, (I don't) nor was it my "flu like" symptoms making me feel cloudy, but it was the complete absence of "celebrity gossip" and "how to make your home beautiful" magazines, adorning the now barren and desolate table.

What's a guy to do as he waits to be told, "There is nothing wrong with you" without the aid of the latest fashion tips and curtain hanging techniques? And the government realises this, that human spirit will be broken and hope lost, if our celebrity news has dried up at the source, and our homes fall into rack and ruin because our "How to" guides have been eliminated from the only places they were ever read.

Demoralised and uneducated nations will stumble on into a future with the threat of some swine disease or other in place to keep us under control. Global warming didn't work so they are trying a different angle, and its working. I left the health centre in anguish and torment, knowing there was nothing really wrong with me. You see? The plan is working, we are all being duped and brainwashed. Or are we?

Julian, what a great article. You seem to be saying you think the H1N1 scare is more hype than fact, something I've thoght all along. Seems we (as a nation) just have to be 'scared' by something. :)

Thanks for your comment Joyce. I am not suggesting for one minute that the H1N1 scare is not fact because of course it is, but you are right about the hype thing. It's something I have written a lot about recently and its not just swine flu...its everything! Thanks again, Julian

I agree, Julian. H1N1 is real, I just question if it's as "real" as the media would like us to believe. Totally agree about the epidemic of hype.
