Flood Warning - Are Rihanna and Umbrella Song Responsible for Current UK Weather and Floods

Ever since the now familiar echoes of Rihanna singing " ella ella, eh eh eh, under my umbrella" dominated the airwaves and the club dance floors in the summer of 2007 it has rained in the UK . Okay, so to suggest that one song is responsible for something as unpredictable as the weather is perhaps a little unfair but there is no escaping the fact that there has been very little sun shining on these shores since an unwitting DJ gave that tune its first spin! One survey even voted it as song of the decade!

During the summer of the songs release, it spent ten weeks at number one in the UK charts and it was one of the wettest summers that I can recall with some of the heaviest and most destructive flooding on record. Us Brits thought we may get some kind of reprieve in the following summers but the clouds have continued to roll in and during this past week Britain has once again been counting the cost of major flooding.

Cumbria has seen the worst of the flooding this time, with some towns and villages being half submerged by the persistent deluges and homes destroyed by the water. Cockermouth and Workington are two towns that have been particularly badly hit with buildings broken and damaged and bridges swept away.

It really is time the rain went away and left the UK alone for a while. Perhaps Rihanna could release a more positive meteorological song, maybe something called, " Gonna need your sun tan lotion for a while" or " Bring back our hose pipe bans"!

The irony is, I loved that umbrella song and so did millions of others, so perhaps it's not Rihanna's fault after all? Maybe we just have ourselves to blame.

Sending best wishes to everyone affected by the latest UK floods and hoping and praying some normality may be restored in time for you all Christmas.

I think I'm going to sue Rhianna. Not because I live in the UK or anything, but I've suffered some pretty major psychological trauma just thinking about all the hardships you guys have gone through. Someone should pay.
