Christmas is coming and the gossip goose is getting seriously obese on all that juicy scandal coming its way in the build up to the festive season. Mirroring the many explosive soap opera storylines that are unleashed during the holiday season, the real world is desperately trying to keep up!
The Tiger Woods "scandal" is on a roll (literally it appears) and is causing some intense media and news coverage. It appears Tiger is big news everywhere and not confined to the sports world, even if he may be confined to the doghouse! Perhaps it will take another huge scandal somewhere for the brakes to be applied on the whole affair and for Woods to be left in peace this Christmas.
Climate Gate is another huge story causing tidal waves of controversy, especially in the scientific community. If any of you have ever read the late Michael Crichton's "State of Fear ", perhaps it is not so far from the truth regarding corruption, dishonesty and false information. Could global warming really be a hoax?
Perhaps Facebook and the new Facebookagent story could steal the thunder from everyone and everything else? A tool that claims it allows Facebook users to view any private profiles is scary enough but couple that together with information claiming the program to be bogus and likely riddled with all sorts of nasty that could damage your computer, then you have yourself millions of scared Facebook users!
Of course, if you want to be free of all the scandal this Christmas, then switch of your computers, turn off the TV, don't buy a newspaper or magazine, close the curtains tight and pray for snow. Merry Christmas!

Top-level comments on this article: (1 total)I like current events myself, scandal and all, any time of the year, including Christmas season. Let's not forget: no one manufactured the Tiger Woods scandal; it is his own doing, and deeds have consequences, even in post-modern societies which pretend to be amoral. Good literary work, Julian. ~mogama~Thanks Mogama, really appreciate your positive comment. I am sure there will be many more scandals to get stuck into in the coming year. It is the one thing there is never a drought of! Thanks again, Julian
