Google is going gaga today for Melodee Hanes Photos or pictures and there seem to be more people searching for these elusive Melodee Hanes pics than there are reading about the terrible tragedy that occurred in a Russian night club on Friday evening!

Melodee Hanes is apparently the girlfriend of Max Baucas, the Senate Finance Committee Chairman. It seems photographs of this lady are somewhat of a rarity and news agencies are searching for exclusive pictures of her as if they were some priceless baseball card! Who knows, perhaps they will turn out to be just as priceless for some "lucky" photographer or member of the paparazzi.

It is reported that Baucus nominated his girlfriend for the post of US Attorney but even still, it seems mystifying that this "news" item is dominating Google this afternoon (Saturday 5 th December 2009), when there are huge life changing events occurring around the world.

In Russian city Perm , 109 people died and many more were injured on Friday night (4 th December 2009) when a fireworks display inside the Lame Horse nightclub triggered a massive blaze, spreading panic and fear and leading to catastrophe.

It seems incredulous that rumours of Kim Sears leaving World number four tennis player, Andy Murray, because he plays too much Playstation3 appear to be more interesting than real world events.

It is becoming more and more difficult to assess what makes a story newsworthy in today's society with other notable current Google Trends listing Kim Sears Pictures, Jamie Jungers and even Monica Lewinski as topics being branded as big news. Of course on Google, the public makes its own news and perhaps that is the point.
