Tiger Woods is playing the toughest course of his life right now, with the cameras and media camped outside his home as a woman is taken to hospital in the early hours of the morning. Still awaiting confirmation of the woman's identity, she was apparently later discharged from hospital.

The truth, the lies and rumours surrounding Tiger Woods' private life have become one giant snowball of attention greater than anything the golfer ever received in the sporting world. It's always sad to see lives destroyed but even more so when the media embarks on one of its destructive witch hunts, intent only on sensationalism and selling copy.

Whatever misdemeanours Tiger may or may not be guilty of, does he really deserve this kind of press? Does anyone for that matter? Whatever the fall out of this story, Woods has found himself ensnared in the media's impossible to escape, sand trap!

Across the world and often lost in a sea of Tiger Woods headlines, Baghdad has suffered its worst day of violence for many months with 127 people reported dead as a series of car bombs exploded across the city. These latest bombings in the Iraq capital will serve as a reminder (no doubt the insurgents aim) that Iraq is still very much a melting pot of violence and terrorism, set to keep the allies busy on both the Iraq and Afghanistan fronts.

Afghanistan has been the recent focus of the war on terror, culminating in President Barack Obama announcing that 30,000 more US troops would be sent to the country.
