Barack Obama will receive his Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 today (10 th December 09) in Oslo, Norway's capital, but in a busy and rushed schedule the King of Norway has been left out in the cold as the President is unable to fit him into the twenty four hour visit of Oslo. This has annoyed many Norwegians, thinking Mr Obama rude for cancelling his lunch with King Harold. The President will however meet with the Norwegian Prime Minister.
However, the Nobel committee believe that Mr Obama is a worthy recipient for the President's determination to seek a nuclear weapon free world and for his efforts within the international community.
Previous winners of the Nobel Peace Prize include, Martin Luther King Jr, Mother Teresa, Desmond Tutu, Mikhail Gorbachev, Nelson Mandela and Jimmy Carter.
