The stores become a danger zone of towering corridors of Easter eggs, branded with the latest gimmicks and gifts to entice you to have a chocoholic holiday and schools become obsessed with the Easter bunny and the painting and decorating of eggs.
Most of us will be looking forward to a couple of days off work and a long weekend to relax (once the egg hunts are over) but how many of us actually consider what Easter actually is or at least think about it a little more deeply?
Regardless of what you may think of Easter, along with the bunnies and the eggs, Jesus Christ must be entered into the equation of Easter thinking, as many religious people around the world take Easter time to remember the death and resurrection of Jesus.
There is little to deny the historical existence of the man known as Jesus Christ, so what if our modern news and reporting systems had been around more than two thousand years ago, how would it have reported the Biblical account of the conviction of Jesus?
Perhaps it would have read a little like this....
Innocent Man to be Executed
An innocent man named Jesus will be publicly executed by way of crucifixion on Friday even though no evidence could be found against him.
In extraordinary circumstances, an unruly and rowdy public gathering was able to persuade the court to release a known killer instead of Jesus, who is also known as the Christ to his followers. Jesus, who appeared beaten and bruised was removed from the court without protest and awaits his death.
The judge later admitted that he was unable to charge Jesus with any crime at all and that the prosecution and the public simply wanted rid of him because he had dared to call himself the Son of God. "He may be a little mixed up and confused" said the Judge, "but I hardly see that it is punishable by death. I even had him beaten in the hope that this would suffice but the crowd were becoming violent so I gave them what they wanted to prevent a riot."
As these shocking events reverberate around the world, they not only expose the unreliable nature of the judicial system but also the fickle state of our morality. Although, perhaps a bigger question remains, just who is this Jesus and why is he so willing to die like a convicted criminal?

It is too bad that modern day people don't have the same courage as Jesus and stand up for what we believe in no matter what...I guess that depends what we believe but I know what you mean Tammy! Thanks for the comment.
