A Picasso painting called, "Nude, Green Leaves and Bust" has set a new world record for the most expensive piece of art bought at an auction.

If you wanted to buy the painting from its proud new owner, you would have to raid your piggy banks for at least $106 million dollars. Yes, Millions! Or does 70 million sound a bit safer if you want to convert to pounds?

It beats the previous world record by more than $2 million which of course was Giacometti's "Walking Man 1".

The great Pablo Picasso, who died in 1973 at the grand old age of 91, rustled up this world record beater in a bit of spare time! It is thought that the Spanish artist took less than a day to concoct "Nude, Green Leaves and Bust" which works out more than $4 million worth of painting an hour. Not a bad minimum wage!

The painting which apparently is meant to depict Picasso's mistress (whom he often painted) Marie-Therese Walter was sold at Christies in New York.

The picture doesn't look particularly flattering to me, but then any art lovers reading this would probably say I shouldn't call it a "picture"!

The world record purchaser of the Nude chose to remain anonymous. Probably very wise!
