Following is a brief guide to show how articles written with relevant content and enriched with appropriate keywords and key phrases, assist in the SEO process.
- Your SEO team gets to work on your website, making sure it functions correctly. Much like the engine of a car needs fine tuning for optimum performance, so does your website. For the website to be found, read and analysed correctly and quickly by the search engines, including Google, it has to be built properly and then tuned, so it speaks a language that the search engines can understand.
- Part of the SEO process is to ensure that your site is correctly set up with relevant keywords and phrases, not just on the home page, but throughout the site.
- These keywords need to be present not only in the content on the website, but weaved into its very structure, such as page titles. (the bit that you see right at the top of a web page, above the address bar)
- So, let's assume your website has been optimised. It should already be in better shape for the search engines to place your site as high as possible and begin delivering you relevant traffic.
- In many cases, especially in competitive arenas, where keywords are common and used by lots of competitors, one proven method of increasing your chances of working your way up the pages and ranks of Google is to operate an article marketing campaign.
- The basic idea behind an article marketing campaign is to create buzz and subtle advertising for your website. A well written article, posted in a prominent article directory, including relevant content to your website, can deliver traffic to your website. But, there's more!
- This is where the article writer and the SEO team can join forces and make a difference. The SEO team have already worked on your website, already know which keywords and phrases are being targeted and can share this information with the article writer.
- When posting an article to an article directory, the writer is usually able to insert a link back to the target website in what is often called a "bio box" at the end of the article. Some article directories also allow a link or two to be inserted into the body of the article itself. The "bio box" is the only part of the article that is directly allowed to promote the target website. (e.g. For more information about SEO, please visit SEO.com)
- Better still, these links can be used much more cleverly with the use of an anchor text link. An anchor text link will usually use one of your target key phrases and is clickable. Let's say a website sells "super duper prams" as its main product. The use of an anchor text link may go something like this, Please visit our website, where we have all the latest super duper prams in stock.
- The phrase "super duper prams" is one of the target key phrases, one which you would like to see your website ranked on Google for. So, here is your phrase in an article on an article directory. The article is highlighted because it's clickable, and one click of that phrase, sends the clicker speeding over to the website and to the relevant " super duper prams" page.
- Not only does the visitor end up at the desired website, but the search engines recognise the content relevant anchor text link and ranks your website a little better.
- It goes without saying, that the more of these kind of links you have, not only are you likely to have some visitors from the link clicks, but the stronger your website becomes for that particular phrase and the higher it should rise up the pages of Google and other search engines.
- This process can be repeated with multiple key phrases and help to make your site visible for lots of different phrases and bring you lots more visitors.
- The article itself is completely independent. Although a great article is ALWAYS better, unless it's dreadfully written or in some way illegal, the article content itself does not need to represent your website's standards. It is simply a part of the SEO process, aimed at making your business stronger and more visible on the internet and ultimately leading to sales.
