David Beckham is apparently “keen” on a move to English Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur this January from LA Galaxy. The rumour mill is churning into top gear, suggesting that soccer legend, Beckham is set for one final hoorah at the top level of the game.

If the deal comes to fruition, Beckham and the whole superstar media package that surrounds him will move to London for less than 3 months. The transfer window in the Premier league is now open for the month of January, allowing Beckham, currently in the offseason with US MLS (Major League Soccer) team LA Galaxy to move across the Atlantic for one more throw of the dice in English Soccer.

Spurs probably seems a logical choice for Beckham who is unlikely to want to settle for anything less than a club still involved in this seasons European Champions League. Tottenham are having a great season both in Europe and at home and manager Harry Redknapp clearly sees Beckham and his sublime right foot as adding some extra quality and experience as the big games comes thick and fast.

Opinion actually appears divided as to whether the former Man United, Real Madrid and AC Milan star, arriving at Spurs will be good for the club, with some suggesting that all the razzamatazz that accompanies anything David Beckham does may distract and even upset the great season Tottenham are currently enjoying.

Others seem to share Redknapp’s great enthusiasm that Beckham’s wise footballing brain, ultra professionalism and unique enthusiasm for all things soccer can only benefit Spurs both in the short and long term.

It’s more than 7 years since David Beckham played in the English Premier League and for all but the most cynical of sports fans; Beckham playing for spurs is an exciting prospect. AC Milan may not share the enthusiasm, as Spurs are set to play the Milan giants both at the San Siro and White Hart Lane in a two legged Champions League tie.

What do you think of David Beckham’s possible (likely?) move back to English soccer?
