Will Torres sign for Chelsea FC from Liverpool? That’s probably the biggest transfer likely to happen in the coming days as football fans from around the world will be keeping an eye on all the transfer news, with deadline day upon us once more.
On a day that is more renowned for lots of smaller transfers and loan deals between various soccer teams, there are however, always one or two mega transfers or surprises!
The Spanish striker, who previously played for Athletico Madrid is already a World Cup Winner and a European Championship winner with his country, but has yet to win any honours at club level despite scoring 147 goals (for his clubs) to date.
However, it seems Chelsea will have to come up with at least £50 million before Liverpool will even consider allowing Torres to leave, but there are plenty of reports suggesting that this will indeed happen.
From the Chelsea perspective, what will this mean for current strikers, Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka and Salomon Kalou? Will one or more of them be allowed to leave, with some believing that Anelka will be offered as part payment for Torres? Meanwhile, Liverpool appear likely to sign Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez but what will captain Steven Gerrard think of yet another established star leaving Anfield, especially so soon after Kenny Dalglish’s return as manager. A picture of frustration I am sure.
Transfer deadline day is set once more to be a day of frenzied big money speculation, a whole host of loan deals and perhaps one big Torres transfer! At least this may finally stop all the talk of the Torres haircut or the Torres tattoos!
