Cricket World Cup Final Result Below...India or Sri Lanka?
The tenth cricket world cup gets under way in just a few hours with three South Asian nations hosting this year’s tournament. Eleven other teams will compete bringing the total to fourteen, who have been split into two groups, as follows:
Group A: Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Canada.
In the group stages each team will play six matches against the other members of their group and the top four in each group will qualify for the Quarter Finals, also known as the Super 8 stage.
The tournament will last almost a month and half with the first match between host nations India and Bangladesh (the other being Sri Lanka) on February 19thwith the final in Mumbai on April 2nd2011.
Some days will see two matches completed and others only one. India are the current bookmaker’s favourites to win the trophy at around 13/5 with Sri Lanka and South Africa at 4/1 and 5/1 respectively. 2007 winners, Australia are at 6/1 with their Ashes conquerors England only 8/1. It will be interesting to see how these odds shift as the tournament progresses.
Here are all the teams first Fixtures:
India v Bangladesh (19thFeb), New Zealand v Kenya (20thFeb), Sri Lanka v Canada (20thFeb), Australia v Zimbabwe (21stFeb), England v Netherlands (22ndFeb), Pakistan v Kenya (23rdFeb), South Africa v West Indies (24thFeb)
The cricket scores and results will be posted up in the comments section as and when the matches are completed and the results are in.
This year’s mascot is perhaps quite aptly (with it being the 10thCricket World Cup) a 10 year old elephant called Stumpy.
