Wrexham V Luton Town - Wrexham FC may still be up for sale, but they are also up for promotion!  Wrexham V Luton Town is the biggest game in town for a few years and may provide the first step back to the football league.

Yes, the never ending saga about who will eventually own the club is still unresolved and a £200,000 debt has been paid off, via interest free loans, but tonight (May 5th 2011) is all about the football, so COME ON WREXHAM! (updated 05.05.11)

Wrexham FC is up for sale, and as has been the case for the past decade, there is huge uncertainty surrounding the future of the football club and the historic Racecourse Ground itself.

These latest twists in what seem to be a never ending saga of news, are happening just at a time when, Wrexham FC, the football team, are enjoying their best spell for a while, and find themselves sitting comfortably in the play off zone with genuine hopes of a return to the football league, albeit with plenty of work still to be done.

In a BBC report yesterday it was seemingly suggesting that the future of the football club and its assets, (Let’s not forget that this has an impact on Rugby League team, The Crusaders, as well) is going to be revealed by the opening of an envelope (on the pitch?) at the Racecourse before Wrexham’s next home game against Forest Green.

Now, with the two bids to purchase the club being from fan based groups, I can sort of see why they wanted this to occur in front of the fans, but isn’t the opening of an envelope at a football match, a little like some tragic pantomime or cheesy lottery draw?

One group is going to be left very disappointed and we can only hope that all this pre match drama won’t have an effect on the football team who will be desperately trying to secure another vital 3 points in the quest for promotion.

Will this be Wrexham versus Forest Green in the Blue Square Bet Premier League or Stephanie Booth (and fans) versus the WST (Wrexham Supporters Trust)? I really hope that whatever the outcome it is positive for Wrexham FC, but it is a little nerve wracking seeing fans pitted against other fans at a football club that is already so fragile! Where is a millionaire buyer when you need one?

Whatever happens let everyone who loves Wrexham FC and everyone around Wrexham and North Wales get fully behind Dean Saunders and his Dragons team as they attempt to return the club to where it belongs, in the football league.

Wrexham! Wrexham! Wrexham!
