Fantasy Football is hugely popular with millions of players around the world playing in different leagues and games battling for prizes and prestige.  Some of these leagues are completely free while others require a fee to play. Of course, whether free or paid for, these fantasy leagues are totally addictive!

At this time of the season, with just over a handful of games to go, all competitors will be nervously looking over their shoulders at friends and relatives that may be making a late surge up the table. It’s also the time of season when all of your best laid plans and strategies (if you had one) can simply fall apart, as the real life soccer stars begin to suffer from fatigue and suffer injuries leaving your fantasy counterparts decimated.

Spending points on transfers may be crucial at this time of year, but go overboard and you may find yourself plummeting down the league.

As mentioned, there are different fantasy games played around the world. The official FA Premier League Fantasy Football is probably one of, if not the most popular, with almost 2.5 million players.

It is free to play and in all honesty the prizes are not great, unless you consider a couple of tickets to an English Premier League game of your choice as worthwhile. No, this league is serious, full of serious players who do it for the love of football; to pit their soccer knowledge against others and to hopefully be crowned champions of their private leagues at the end of the season.

You get to choose a squad of 15 players made up of all 20 EPL teams, who are in season 2010/2011, in alphabetical order: Arsenal, Aston Villa, Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool, Bolton Wanderers, Chelsea, Everton, Fulham, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Stoke City, Sunderland, Tottenham Hotspur, West Bromwich Albion, West Ham United, Wigan Athletic and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

2 Goalkeepers, 5 defenders, 5 Midfielders and 3 Strikers will make up your squad and you cannot select any more than 3 players from one particular team.

So, you can select Rooney, Fabregas, Lampard, Bale, Van Persie, Giggs, Torres and Drogba all in the same team if you like...but only if you can afford it, because you start with a budget of £100 million and each player has a different value!

Points are awarded for goals scored, assisting a goal, clean sheets (no goals conceded) for defenders as well as saves from goalkeepers.

Are you going to play and win this year? May the best team win!
