Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Royal Wedding, Friday 29thApril 2011, 11am UK time at Westminster Abbey in Central London...just in case you didn’t know! Flip the TV channel and you will find it, flip it again and you will find it again! This is going to be one major television event, not just in the UK, but around the World.

The people of the UK have been granted a day of national holiday to celebrate the marriage of William and Kate and there are sure to be millions of viewers glued to the unfolding events on their TV screens or even lining the streets of London, hoping to catch a first glimpse of Kate Middleton’s wedding dress as she steps out at Westminster Abbey to meet her awaiting Prince.

Whether the royal wedding is your thing or not, it is likely you will find it very difficult to avoid, as coverage will take place on all the main terrestrial channels as well as plenty of others too! The wedding ceremony itself kicks off at 11am (UK time) but coverage of the build up and reaction to all of the day’s events will be broadcast from much earlier in the morning and go on long after the wedding has concluded, and long after Prince William and Kate have become a married couple and vanished from sight.

There will be street parties to celebrate, there will be union jacks waving and I am sure many will see it as a good time to have a few extra drinks! Apparently, pubs have been permitted to stay open longer on the nights of 29thand 30thApril to allow extra celebrating! So, if you were thinking of popping to the pub for a little piece and quiet, you are likely to be out of luck!

The news channels of course will provide wall to wall coverage and commentary, likely leaving precious little time for any of the other news stories of the day, but how often is there a royal wedding on this scale? William is an extremely popular Prince and Kate Middleton appears to have won the affection of the general public.

There is no doubt about it, this is going to be a TV production of mammoth proportions and it’s coming to a screen near you!
