Champions League Winners 2011 – Barcelona!  A 3 -1 victory over Manchester United included goals from Lionel Messi, Pedro and David Villa. A reply from Wayne Rooney, couldn’t prevent this being surely one of the most one sided European finals of all time.

A bright start from United soon evaporated as Barca began to get into their passing groove and a flowing move saw Pedro open the scoring on 27 minutes. A delightful move also delivered the equaliser with Rooney starting and finishing a passing sequence with a lovely finish. Barcelona continued to press and could and perhaps should have been further ahead at half time, but United were able to start the second half level.

The Spanish champions simply picked up where they left off and passed and passed and passed, making the English champions look pretty average in comparison. A strike from outside the area brought Messi the goal he deserved on 54 minutes and David Villa scored a delightful curling finish on 69 minutes to effectively finish the contest.

United fought bravely in the final 20 minutes but in truth, the score line flattered them and Barcelona lifted their second UEFA Champions League Trophy in 3 years. Barcelona are Champions of Europe's most sought after prize in football!
